It’s amazing how we can go through life without stopping to actually think about where we are and what is happening right now. How often have you caught yourself getting lost in planning out your future and losing touch with the present moment. The truth is that the only moment that holds any power is the present and getting back in touch with now can hugely empower you.
When you get asked to set goals, what do you think of? If you’re like most people, you probably think of finances and work. But the truth is that our lives consist of so much more. It’s important to slow down and take a look at every single area of your life if you want to get a clear and honest picture of what’s happening right now.
But it’s also really easy to go into denial and just pretend that things are really much better that they are. For example, if someone were to ask you how your family life is, you might say that it’s pretty good. However, you might just be focussing on one small aspect. Your children. Your relationship with your brother or sister might be a completely different matter as there could be constant resentment there which is totally unresolved.
Pretending that things are okay doesn’t help. If there’s an imbalance in one area, it affects lots of other areas. You cannot effectively separate them. It’s so important to be honest and see things the way they are. When you bring awareness to what’s happening in your life, whether it is finances, relationships or your spirituality, that enables you to see more clearly where you would like to be. And that in turn will help you to see what is potentially standing in your way.
It’s only when you have a clear picture of what is, that you are able to see what you think you would like to improve and only then can you start to set effective goals.
Although it may seem that other people or circumstances are holding you back from getting to where you want to be, there is only one person that can do that – and that is you.
The good news in all of this is that you have everything you need within you to turn things around. Your intuition or inner guidance will show you the way to take the next step. Simply by asking the right questions and reflecting on what comes up, you can find direction and bring momentum back into your life. Trust the process and allow yourself to move forward.
